Whether your desire is to set up a scholarship to help deserving Georgia College students finance their education, provide ongoing financial support for a specific project or program, or support a faculty member, the GC Foundation can walk you through the process.
Endowed funds are designed to be permanent and perpetual and can be created with gifts totaling a minimum amount of $10,000, contributed in full at the outset or with an initial commitment that is added to over a period of up to three-years until the endowment level of $10,000 is attained. The principal of the fund is invested to produce income, and an annual allocation is made to support the purpose of the fund. The principal remains untouched, so the endowment can last in perpetuity.
The staff will work with you to establish criteria to ensure your intent will support Georgia College through the generations.
For most endowed scholarship funds the GCSU Foundation and Alumni Association Scholarship Selection Committee meets annually to carefully review the scholarship applications submitted by students and selects the most deserving recipient(s) based on the donor-established criteria. In some cases, an academic or other outside committee will review applicants and make recipient recommendations to the foundation who will then verify that the recipient meets the donor-established criteria. Major contributors of a scholarship fund are notified annually when the scholarship recipient(s) has been selected.
